108 sun salutations for a New Year

This time of year is full of resolution setting, of huge expectations, of marketing and social media screaming at us all the ways we can be ‘better’.

While reflection makes sense to me at this time of year, rushing to change habits, optimise behaviours and run after new things doesn’t – it’s cold, dark and I want to hunker down.

There is one ritual that I have done every New Year’s day for nearly 10 years now and that’s moving though 108 rounds of sun salutations. A moving meditation to ground and centre in what I always find a challenging time of year. I can’t recommend it enough ;)

You don’t need to be ready for the New Year, you don’t need to be ‘better’ but do let yourself reflect. What can you let go of and what can you bring in?

So if you’re feeling a bit messy, a bit hesitant and not sure what the year holds, know you’re not alone. And know that the messiness, the stickiness does pass (but often in the messiness, magic starts to happen!). Happy new year all 😊
